Alternative singer-songwriter 〝美根〟 releases the new song “零れる光” through early Reflection today, May 25.
This is the first self-produced digital release, expressing the sensibility developed during the みねこ美根 era more directly. The song was completed with the members who share the stage at live shows.
COMMENT
“Those who have light befriend things that have light.” — 〝美根〟
The starting point for this new song, “零れる光,” was a piece I played for the audience as the final song of my solo show “A Special Day of Mine ‘零れる光’” in January 2022.
I feel that light streaming in makes the heart stronger, so I chose “light” as my theme for this year. I want this song to reach people who are a little tired, people who do not realize they are tired, people who want to give it their all but cannot, and people who have decided what their own limits are.
I changed my name this spring, and I have a strong, surging feeling that I am going to go even further from here. I put into this song my desire to be certain—and to help you feel certain—that a wonderful world is waiting at the end of the path I am leading us down. There is light there that responds to our feelings. I hope these feelings reach you so that we can make that world real, rather than leaving it to the imagination. It is a song that lets everyone naturally look up by the time they have heard it through to the end.
This time, I produced it myself. I had made the initial versions of songs before, but this time I thoroughly produced 〝美根〟 all the way to completion. To give my feelings a stronger form in the sound and arrangement, the members who also play with me live, along with the engineer and staff, brought their own “light” to it. (All of us together are 美根’s.)
We played together and recorded, then added layers remotely too. 〝美根’s〟 shared ideas, and each person's individuality shone and overlapped. Every part has a rich complexity, creating a unique balance and a sound that is cool in its own way. This is an important song that points to 〝美根〟's resolve after changing my name and sets our direction.
