flip-flops, a two-piece band based in both Hokkaido and Tokyo whose concept is “Far-east Emo,” digitally released 「2more」 on July 8, 2026, as the third of three singles released in consecutive months.

While retaining the “electronic × Midwest Emo” framework running through the previous two releases, the song seeks to move beyond the boundaries of rock itself. Its delicate, experimental sound draws on Midwest Emo and math rock, blending electronic elements with the band's sound in an emotional culmination of the trilogy. The meanings of the numbers in each title also merit attention.

The band have also confirmed appearances at the Kichijoji multi-venue event 『武蔵野万博2026』 and 『森ノ焚キ音楽祭』, an outdoor music festival being held in Nagano for the first time. With flip-flops continuing their energetic activities, their next steps are ones to watch.

ARTIST

flip-flops

A two-piece band based in both Hokkaido and Tokyo, working under the concept of “Far-east Emo.” They began their activities in 2022, centered on making music without genre or geographical boundaries. On their fourth album, released in January 2025, they proposed a new genre, “far-east emo,” combining their own musical identity with respect for Midwest Emo's US origins. Guitarist milano's sharp riffs intertwine with vocalist daijiro's nostalgic melodies to establish an original sound that feels both cutting-edge and evocative of Y2K. They independently handle everything from mixing and mastering to cover photography and music videos, embodying a refined approach to sound design and a distinctive creative world.
