LINE MUSIC is a music streaming service that offers LINE profile background music and karaoke alongside ordinary listening. Prices differ between LINE STORE and in-app purchases, and student-plan eligibility is another point to check. Here is a guide to its free features and how to choose a paid plan.

Prices and availability in this article refer to Japan and were checked on October 24, 2026. The table uses official listed prices, excluding promotions. Before subscribing, check the amount charged through your chosen purchase channel, free-trial eligibility and the next renewal date.

The official plan name is "LINE MUSIC with LYPプレミアム エンジョイ". The table separates standard, student and family options. The family plan supports up to six people, and the official pricing page says people outside your family may also use it.

The student plan is for students from elementary school upward and requires student verification. Its eligibility differs from services restricted to university students, so check whether your school and enrollment status qualify.

Free Playback Is Limited to 30 Seconds; Paid Plans Add Full Tracks

Without a subscription, track playback is limited to 30 seconds. Paid plans let you play complete songs and music videos, with features such as offline playback. Ongoing free features differ from a free trial that lets you try a paid plan for a limited period.

LINE profile background music and music videos can be set once a month without a subscription, or without a change limit on a paid plan. These features are used in the app.

LINE Integration and Karaoke Can Also Be Reasons to Choose It

LINE MUSIC offers karaoke and scoring features that you can enjoy along with music. However, not every track or device supports them. Check the app for the songs you want to sing as well as those you want to hear.

Subscribers can use the benefits of the "LYPプレミアム ライトプラン エンジョイパック". This differs from the "LYPプレミアム スタンダードプラン". If you already subscribe to LYP Premium or LINE Stickers Premium, those subscriptions do not stop automatically, so check for overlap.

Use It on Smartphones and PCs; Downloaded Tracks Also Have Access Limits

LINE MUSIC is available through iOS and Android apps and PC browsers. Even if you can sign in to multiple PCs with the same account, you cannot play music simultaneously. Simultaneous playback on a PC and smartphone app is also unavailable, so choose a plan appropriate for the number of listeners.

In the app, the audio-quality and download settings let you manage storage and related options. You can save favorite tracks and albums to listen offline, but subscription downloads can be played only while you have a valid ticket. Saving music on a device differs from buying and owning it.

Cancel at Least 24 Hours Before Expiry

Official LINE MUSIC help advises canceling automatic renewal at least 24 hours before expiry. Check your purchase history to identify the billing provider, then cancel through the channel you used, such as LINE STORE, the App Store or Google Play. Deleting the app alone does not cancel the subscription.

After cancellation, you can continue using the service until your ticket expires. Free trials also renew automatically as paid subscriptions after they end, so complete cancellation before renewal if you do not want to continue.

How Should You Compare Web versus App and Annual versus Monthly?

First decide whether you need a standard individual, student or family plan, then compare purchase channels. Because web-based LINE STORE and in-app billing have different prices, do not decide based on a single monthly figure in search results. Check the in-app information for family plans.

For the standard plan, twelve web payments of ¥980 total ¥11,760, which is ¥2,160 more than the ¥9,600 annual price. Twelve in-app payments of ¥1,080 total ¥12,960, also ¥2,160 more than the ¥10,800 annual price. However, annual pricing needs to be considered over your whole period of use. If you are unsure whether you will continue, avoid deciding solely on the lower annual price at the outset.

Points to Check When Using LINE Integration

LINE integration, such as profile background music and music-video settings, can be a separate consideration from ordinary listening. You can set these once a month for free, while paid plans remove the limit on changes. Think about how often you will use these settings, rather than only how much music you play each day.

The currently advertised "LYPプレミアム ライトプラン エンジョイパック" does not have the same benefits as the LYP Premium Standard Plan. If you already use another LYP Premium subscription, it is not canceled automatically, so check the subscription screen for overlapping benefits.

What to Check When Getting Started

  1. Check the account you will use for LINE MUSIC and the type of ticket you will buy. If using it as a family, check the family-plan requirements too.
  2. Try full playback of favorite songs separately from the features you want to use on your LINE profile. Free 30-second playback alone does not let you assess the experience of listening to an entire album.
  3. For a student plan, check the student information and verification requirements at signup. LINE MUSIC lists students from elementary school upward as eligible, so its scope differs from university-focused student discounts.
  4. If downloading before going out, check that you have a valid ticket and enough device storage. Having saved a track does not mean you can freely play it after your subscription ends.
