luv releases its first EP, “Garage,” on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.
The debut EP “Garage” takes its name from garage paradise, the live music bar where their paths crossed, and is also a collection entirely about luv (love).
Beginning with the advance single “Lee Un Vile,” the EP moves into “Stevlay,” the band’s first statement of a grown-up love funk. From the concept of men and women represented by Adam and Eve, it questions freedom in the present world. “Rovel” connects the tracks through keyboardist Rosa’s modern classical Orientalism, before “Cooen” returns to the park where they played as children. It explores the anxiety of growing up, the way children play, and how they see love. Memories of someone special ride a neo-soul sound, contrasting with “Stevlay” and closing with a passage that also connects to the earlier song “Gum i.”

ARTIST
luv
A five-piece comprising vocalist Hiyn and DJ Ofeen, who also work together as Geloomy, bassist Zum, keyboardist Rosa, and drummer Sho.
The band’s name comes from “luv,” a slang abbreviation of “love” that feels more casual than “love” but more formal than “like.” It carries the meaning of a word that occupies a middle ground and is used particularly among younger people.
Their groove grows out of the sessions they have built together. Alongside the distinctive floating quality of their lyrics, it captures listeners’ hearts and gets them moving.
