NOMAD POP Releases Digital Single “ウィーリプス” on January 17

Tokyo-based five-piece NOMAD POP

released the digital single “ウィーリプス” on Wednesday, January 17.

Following their semifinal appearance at ARTISTS LEAGUE 2023, which offered a ¥10 million prize,

this first single since the competition compares the alienation of city life to being an extraterrestrial.

It is a dance number that encourages everyone living with loneliness.

Written while vocalist 鮫島 was an office worker,

the song carries love for life-forms “within” Earth who feel they have nowhere to go.

A music video was scheduled to premiere at 20:00 that day and is also worth watching.

Comment from 鮫島 (vocals/guitar)

I am eaten away by a suffocating loneliness, with nowhere to send an SOS.

I hope this reaches someone else, some life-form “within” Earth in the same situation,

but I feel embarrassed because the source of the SOS is always me.

Perhaps I wanted to record this song, which has been with us since our first show,

because I began to feel that being that person is okay, too.
