An alternative rock duo whose vivid sensibility gives rise to fleeting, beautiful music.


While music and video are central to their work, 2022 also saw them hold 喫茶文藝 and make numerous television and radio appearances. They are a duo to keep an eye on in 2023!


新東京

A four-piece rock band of current university students, without a guitarist.


They rose to prominence after being featured on 「関ジャム 完全燃SHOW」 and established 新東京合同会社. Their polished sound is impressive, but so is each member’s ability to produce their own work! I feel they will break even more new ground in 2023.


a子

A singer-songwriter who began performing in 2020.


Beyond their songwriting ability, the way this artist presents a creative world with a team centered on londog is wonderful. I look forward to a broad range of songs and live performances in 2023.


さらさ

A singer-songwriter from Shonan.


Alongside music, this artist works as a visual artist, a buyer for an apparel brand and a hula dancer. The songs are chilled and emotional, with lyrics that strike home directly.


Tele

「Tele」 is the project of 谷口喜多朗.


Appearances at the live event “Early Noise Night” have also drawn attention! The distinctive, singular music created by combining literary lyrics with emotionally sensitive sounds is essential listening.


鋭児

The band began performing in Tokyo in 2020 under the English name “AGE.”


This is still a band whose true nature is difficult to pin down, but the music is unmistakable. Their alternative sound, fusing electronic music with a band setup, stirs feelings held deep inside. I hope they make their mark as revolutionaries.


TOMOO

A singer-songwriter from Tokyo.


After becoming a competition finalist, TOMOO began writing songs in earnest. With a major-label debut and solo shows, 2022 was a breakthrough year. An appealing low-register voice overwhelms listeners. I am excited to see what comes next.


クレナズム

A four-piece band formed in Fukuoka.


Coming from the same place, I have listened to them for a long time, and I think of them as a shoegaze band opening up new territory for J-pop. Keep an eye on クレナズム, who make music that sinks in so effortlessly.


クボタカイ

A rapper and singer-songwriter from Miyazaki.


Although a rapper, クボタカイ makes music across genres including hip-hop, R&B, rock and pop. Their songs are attracting attention on TikTok and they are rising fast! Their music is also part of my own musical roots.


Billyrrom

A band of current university students from Machida, Tokyo.


Their soulful funkiness comes by way of rock and city pop, and I felt they would become a band leading the coming era. Their next moves are worth watching.
