The Music City Council of Fukuoka presents the cross-border co-writing project “BEYONDERS vol.2.”
BEYONDERS aims to support musicians working in the Fukuoka area as they expand into Asia and to strengthen Fukuoka’s presence as a hub for music creation. In March 2023, Bangkok indie-pop band KIKI and Fukuoka’s Deep Sea Diving Club took part in a co-writing session that allowed the public to watch the two bands build a song in real time. The project also held a welcome party with live performances and a talk event on how musicians can work in Asia.
The second edition of BEYONDERS turns its attention to Taiwan. Recent exchanges have included the creative encounters at FUKUOKA ASIAN PICKS (2017–2020), a music and culture event exploring “Asian music and Fukuoka’s future.” Performances by ゲシュタルト乙女 and 落日飛車 at CIRCLE ’23, the outdoor festival at Uminonakamichi Seaside Park, also attracted attention. This time, 寺尾ブッタ, who runs music venues and a record label in both Japan and Taiwan, will coordinate the invitation of Taipei reggae band 蓬莱仙山 (PonLai Mt.).
Waiting to co-write with 蓬莱仙山 is Fukuoka-based rapper PEAVIS. Anticipation is building for the music that will emerge from PEAVIS, who recently released the street-life chronicle “The Blooms Album (Deluxe),” and 蓬莱仙山, making their first visit to Japan.
On February 17, the two artists will co-write in the recording studio at ESP Entertainment Fukuoka (3-1-6 Maizuru, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka). The resulting music will be presented at a welcome party the following day, February 18, at live venue ROOMS (2-1-50 Daimyo, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka). The live performances will also feature the perfect me, the solo project of Fukuoka-born sound creator 西村匠. A talk with 寺尾ブッタ and a networking event are also planned.

PEAVIS
A rapper born in Kobe and based in Fukuoka. He began making music in his teens and formed YELLADIGOS in 2015.
After working with the group, he began his solo career in 2018. Since then, he has earned considerable respect through collaborations that extend beyond hip-hop artists such as 孫GONG, 田我流, and 鎮座DOPENESS to YonYon, kiki vivi lily, 黒田卓也, Shin Sakiura, and many others across genres.
“ガラスの地球,” from his second album “PORTRA¥AL,” was inspired by 手塚治虫’s essay collection “ガラスの地球を救え.” Its release led to a conversation with 手塚るみ子 and a music-video shoot at the Osamu Tezuka Manga Museum, illustrating the breadth of his activities.
His ability to rap over any beat, his emotional and uplifting musicality, and his distinctive tattoos and fashion have all attracted attention. Under the banner of “Peace & Unity,” he continues to share messages needed in the present age.

the perfect me
The solo project of Fukuoka-born talent 西村匠. Formed as a duo in 2013, the project focused on live performances. Even while still unknown, the duo was chosen to open for US indie band DEERHOOF, establishing a local reputation early on. The name “the perfect me” was itself taken from a DEERHOOF song. In 2017, the project released its first album, “INTO THE HOUSE.” Its distinctive blend of Black music, indie rock, jazz, and other genres won support from adventurous music listeners. Following the other member’s departure in July 2018, Nishimura began working fully as a solo project. He won the grand prize at a live audition in Fukuoka that September and went on to perform at JAPAN NITE during SXSW in Austin, Texas, in March 2019.
In August 2020, he released “Thus spoke gentle machine,” his first full-length album as a solo project. It received a strong response nationwide, including heavy rotation on FM stations in the Kanto and Kansai regions such as J-WAVE and α-STATION. The music video for its title track, “Thus~,” featured emerging MAD-animation creator Franz K Endo and also became a topic of conversation on social media.
In spring 2023, he released three singles in succession: “armours,” “My Dungeon,” and “Our Theory.” He continues to explore new musical territory, including the bold use of string-led orchestration.
Nishimura also works as a recording engineer. Alongside productions for Fukuoka artists including Art title, YOUND, nape’s, MADE IN HEPBURN, PEAVIS, ニイナ, and muque, he has built his engineering career by mixing for bands that have helped lead the indie scene, such as おとぎ話 and Spangle call lilli line. In 2022, he became the main engineer at Unknown Sound Studio in his hometown of Fukuoka. With his own releases among its output, the studio has attracted attention as a new base for music from the city.
Nishimura handles composition, arrangement, tracking, vocals, and engineering, including mixing. His personality shines through songs whose approachable pop surface opens into a deeply alternative and distinctive world. He continues to assert a singular presence within Fukuoka’s flourishing indie scene.
