isa, an 18-year-old artist of a new generation born in 2007, released her second single, 「alright」, on Wednesday, June 24.
The track blends ambient rain sounds and a mid-tempo beat into a lo-fi, aesthetic sound centered on acoustic guitar. Together with her delicate vocals, it offers quiet companionship on rainy days and during moments when spirits are low.
In the chorus, the question “are you alright?” is followed by the repeated phrase “i’m right here with you.” Rather than forcing someone to look ahead, the song gently conveys “you are not alone” to a person who says they are fine even when they are struggling inside.
While isa looked inward on her previous release, 「can't sleep without u」, she shifts perspective on 「alright」 to express kindness directed more toward others.
[Artist Comment]
This song grew out of my own experience of love. Even when we are hurting inside, we find ourselves telling the people around us, “I'm fine.” I wrote it hoping to be there for those feelings. I would be happy if this song could be something quietly beside you on rainy days or when you feel a little low. And I hope it gives you a small reason to think about someone important who is beside you.
