Technopop duo モノハス, who handle everything from songwriting to artwork themselves and champion cheerful, danceable, funny J-pop, released the video for “休日,” from their first full-length album “チェイス！！！,” on YouTube on August 19.
“休日” is a refreshing, technically intricate number combining a wistful pop melody with complex, aggressive percussion.
Vocalist TT handled the video’s production, filming and editing. Presented as a mockumentary—fiction staged to look like documentary footage—it captures memories of a dinosaur that suddenly appeared in a park. The retro texture comes from an old compact digital camera, of the household type made in the early Heisei era that has recently drawn renewed attention.

The dinosaur costume I ordered was about three times bulkier than I expected, and I was secretly nervous that Nogami, who played the dinosaur, would be furious with me on the day... If you watch it as a real dinosaur, I think you can feel as if you’re peeking into the simple, happy memories of two people and one creature. Please enjoy it!
