Singer Sala, who has garnered attention for her R&B and hip-hop-based style and her clear, lustrous, and expansive vocals, released her second EP, ‘High Tide’, on December 3rd.
The EP begins with “Hello,” a track completed together with listeners by incorporating audio submissions gathered via social media. It continues with “Peak,” featuring a sound as soothing as a mountain breeze caressing your cheeks, and “Sea View,” evoking the ocean of Shonan, Sala's hometown. “Sea View,” which evokes the ocean of her hometown, Shonan, and the upbeat dance number “One Call.” The EP contains five tracks in total, painting a wave of emotions from the thrill of meeting, to the peak of love, the quietness of parting, and the moment memories suddenly resurface.
The lead track “Bubble Ring” features Sagiri Sól, a close collaborator active in the J-R&B scene. Sam is Ohm crafts a beat that is both ephemeral and core-striking, evoking memories of a summer gone by and faintly beautiful recollections. It truly stands as a symbolic track for the entire EP.
Produced by Sam is Ohm, Taiwan's rising artist LIU KOI, Rikuto Nagira (lo-key design), and sound producer oi (who also collaborates with Sala as a guitarist), the EP features programmed rhythms and light grooves, creating a refined sound with a distinct sense of “breathability.”
