Japanese beatmaker AHNAMUSICA released the album 「Wesing」 through Stereofox Records on November 3. Its 14 tracks build on instrumental hip-hop, bringing in elements of jazz and neo-soul.
Growing up surrounded by records and working in both Japan and Paris have helped shape the album’s sound. Warm samples, gritty drums and relaxed grooves evoke familiar places and memories that unexpectedly resurface.
The eight collaborators are Metic, Matt Wilde, Kilgore Trout, Karen Kikuchi, R Ū, MJ the Sensei, moor no ie and Garoo. AHNAMUSICA works with different artists across the tracks, including moor no ie on 「Omajinai」, MJ the Sensei on 「We Sing」 and Matt Wilde on 「Tea Party」.
The title 「Wesing」 expresses the importance of human connection. Amid growing uncertainty and division, the album hopes that time spent listening to music together can offer a little warmth and comfort. Its gentle beats carry a wish for peace.
