Rising singer-songwriter 進藤雨日 released his first EP, ‘雨暦’, on December 17.
The release contains five tracks, including ‘D線上で踊れ’, which drew attention as an upbeat tune for dancing alone, and his signature song ‘花結び’. Its distinctive world brings together 進藤雨日’s lyrical words and a sophisticated urban sound, forming a ‘calendar’ that lets listeners hear his songs as though turning its pages one by one.
Contributors include his close collaborator Noli Stark, a sound producer known for writing for various artists, and fellow crew members KANE and LAZE. Performers include accomplished young musicians 寺久保怜矢, SHINTA (tee tee, DURDN), Tommy Pratomo, 友田ジュン, 小林ヒロト and 成川竜朗.
Refusing to give up on finding hope, even amid the difficulty of living in contemporary society: that message is woven carefully into the EP.
A comment from the artist
Many of my songs are built around pain and conflict.
That is because I feel that the ‘difficulty of living’ in contemporary society
cannot be separated from our everyday lives.
At the same time, though, I do not want to give up on finding hope.
So, no matter how idealistic it may sound, I want my songs to keep looking forward—
and I put that contradictory wish of mine into this EP.
I would be happy if it could offer you, carrying that ‘difficulty of living’, a little rest for your heart—
a release that gives you somewhere to turn.

進藤雨日
Born in 1996. A singer-songwriter from Okayama, now based in Tokyo as a member of Geek Kids Club.
At 14, he began attending a local vocal school, honing his skills primarily in R&B and soul. He moved to Tokyo at 18 and also began making music on a computer. In contrast to his rugged appearance, his lyrical words, delivered through a naturally smoky voice, and delicate yet catchy melodies resonate deeply with listeners.
