KOMONO LAKE, a three-piece unit whose sound is influenced by city pop, Showa-era Japanese popular music and soul/R&B, has released its third EP, “Three By Three.”


Its six tracks include lead song “笑って,” which conveys a positive farewell, and the dreamy, ballad-like new song “Karaoke.” The EP captures the present of an artist with plenty happening: a first festival appearance in February, selection for TuneCore Japan’s WHO AM I? campaign in January, and previous single “内臓のままに” appearing on Spotify’s official RADAR: Early Noise playlist.


The group will also perform at TALIKA JAPON presents MOMENT feat. KOMONO LAKE at BANK30 in Takeshiba, Tokyo, on Monday, March 25, and Fresh & Room vol.02, an event connected to Spotify’s Fresh& playlist, at TimeOut Café & Diner in Ebisu, Tokyo, on Sunday, April 14.

KOMONO LAKE (コモノレーク) is a three-piece unit with diverse backgrounds. It was formed in 2021 by Taiwan-based singer and illustrator Kanbin, London-born producer SKYTOPIA, also known as a former member of Kero Kero Bonito, and bassist Kuroji, whose support work includes Night Tempo. Its sound draws on city pop, Showa-era Japanese popular music and soul/R&B, while its activities span borders from dual bases in Tokyo and Taiwan.
