ピラニア・パワー・プロジェクト, the music project led by vocalist and guitarist ワキタカヒコ, released its debut EP “成分表示” on September 30, 2026.
The EP contains five songs born out of everyday life. Their lyrics draw on ワキタカヒコ’s personal experiences and emotions: encounters that have shaped his values, the self that emerges through relationships with others, and vague feelings of anxiety and uncertainty.
The recordings took place on the stage at Shimokitazawa mona records, where he regularly performs solo acoustic shows. A 1973 Martin 00-21 was used on every track, with acoustic guitar and vocals at the center and harmonica added in places. ワキタカヒコ also created the cover artwork and logo himself.
A release show will take place at Shimokitazawa mona records on October 22. 伊藤尚毅 will also perform, with 小西康陽 appearing as the special guest DJ.
[Comment from ワキタカヒコ]
I’m releasing my first EP.
I’m ワキタカヒコ of ピラニア・パワー・プロジェクト.
I make music while also working in special-effects fabrication and character design.
At the heart of my music is singing with just a guitar in my hands.
While playing solo acoustic shows at Shimokitazawa mona records, a venue that has supported me for some time, I was offered the chance to record. That led to recording these five songs on the very stage where I usually perform.
The title track, “成分表示,” is about the things that stay within me even as the world and my surroundings change.
The other songs are about questions without answers, the uneasy feelings I experience every day, and sensations that might be easy to overlook but matter to me.
I made the cover artwork and logo myself, too.
Music, design, and my different sides naturally come together in these five songs, which contain the “ingredients” of who I’ve been up to now.
I hope you’ll give them a listen.
