Tokyo-based producer and DJ SKYTOPIA will digitally release the new EP “Inner Layers” on October 30. Its four tracks explore the emotions within and the musical roots behind SKYTOPIA's work, drawing on UK garage, breaks and bassline. TAMURA Ikuho (田村育歩) created the visuals, including the cover artwork.

The title “Inner Layers” refers to the layers within. On this release, SKYTOPIA confronts the emotions and roots that shape the music, reworking influences from UK club music and a melodic sensibility from the perspective of a producer based in Tokyo.

The two new tracks are “Denim Skies,” with its melodic, propulsive 4x4 groove, and “Into The Unknown,” a two-step track resonating with weighty bass. They are joined by the previously released “Rain” and “Pressure,” a collaboration with Ogasawara.

SKYTOPIA previously worked with TAMURA Ikuho on the EP “SIGNS,” collaborating on everything from artwork, video and the logo to VJ visuals for its release party. “Inner Layers” was also created through a dialogue between sound and visuals, extending the world established by their previous collaboration.
