Enigmatic university-student trackmaker Kinail will release the digital single “No more...” on Thursday, September 9, 2021. Created mainly by students through audio social platform Clubhouse, the song expresses a wish not to repeat pain (“苦痛”; 9/9 is two nines) any further (“no more”). Kinail is also launching the “No more Project” around the song. With support from student organizations and new media and platforms, the project will connect and support student artists and creators.
Created by a group of mainly student artists and creators recruited through the much-discussed audio social platform Clubhouse, the song portrays students struggling through the difficult circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic.
COMMENTS ON MAKING THE SONG
“I’m Kinail, and I made the track. Putting each of three vocalists’ voices onto the track was an unusual challenge for me. But everyone made my track compelling with wonderful voices and lyrics. I composed it with the thought, ‘I want to convey something that will strike a chord with listeners.’ Please give it a listen.” (Kinail)
“I’m Shion, and I worked on the lyrics and vocals. It’s okay to have difficult times, and it’s okay to have days when you want to cry. But in the end, I want to live with a strong will that lets me look ahead. That’s the feeling I put into this song. I would be happy if you listened.” (Shion)
“I worked on the melody, lyrics and singing. Of the songs I have made, this one has become very special to me. It was my first time creating something with other people.
It is full of ideas I never would have come up with alone, and it became a song I want many different people to hear.
At a difficult time during the pandemic, it has made me very happy to connect with people like this and take part in creating something.
I want to keep that happiness close as I continue my activities.” (たいき)
“The first four bars have lyrics with a floating feeling, and I really want to explain them. But I want to value each listener’s interpretation, so I’m keeping my mouth shut like Miffy here (?).
For the last four bars, I used similes and positive expressions, writing with the image of moving diagonally upward from the beginning of my lyrics to the end.
I think it became a section where you can feel FRAAP’s distinctive style.
As a whole, the song is about the worries and anxieties people of our generation face today, and about the future ahead. I hope it can speak for listeners’ anxieties and give them courage.” (FRAAP)

“No more...” — the first student-created song born from the much-discussed audio social platform Clubhouse!
New-generation trackmaker Kinail, singer-songwriters たいき and Shion, rapper FRAAP, trackmaker 茶門, illustrator お鈴 and other artists and creators from a variety of genres met on Clubhouse and made this song together. It is a track that encourages students finding their way through the turbulence of recent years.

ARTIST
Kinail
Kinail joined FTZ records in September 2020 and began working in earnest, handling composition, arrangement and mixing independently. Alongside original sampler-based tracks, Kinail produces tracks and remixes for artists across genres.
In May 2020, Kinail released “My Wave” with singer-songwriter Som. Current activities focus on track production in Japan and overseas, alongside music production and live DJ performances. Previous singles have appeared on official Spotify, LINE MUSIC and AWA playlists, and attracted attention by ranking highly in the POPS chart on Taiwan’s StreetVoice.
Shion
An Osaka-based university-student singer-songwriter. Shion’s powerful yet gentle voice marks an artist with promise for the future.
たいき
A singer-songwriter from Tokyo. The carefully honed vocals and guitar sound create a distinctive world that is delicate yet rich in expression.
FRAAP
An artist based in Fukuoka, distinguished by a genre-crossing style rooted in hip-hop and influenced by R&B and K-pop. FRAAP released a first EP in February 2021, and a music video for “MALIBU NIGHT” is also available.
茶門
A 21-year-old Kyoto university-student artist, born in 1999. Born and raised in Ujitawara, the birthplace of Japanese green tea, 茶門 began artistic activities at 18. Working in Kyoto today, the artist aims to fuse Japanese culture, a personal root, with dance music.
Kakka (Producer)
An artist whose activities explore art and engineering through music. Kakka also works as a producer at FTZ records and curator for Eggs. With projects and events across a variety of fields, this distinctive perspective has raised expectations for an artist who can help lead the coming era.
[FTZ No more Project]
A project that began with the feelings of students living through an unprecedented, predominantly online student life because of the coronavirus pandemic.
We will bring together people who can connect precisely because we are online, and pursue what an internet-using Generation Z can do.

The project will develop three main areas of activity.
1. Artist–Creator Matching
Anyone who wants to make music or try singing can readily take part. Apply using the form on the official website; we will use the information provided to connect people whose music and creative goals fit together. We will arrange online meetings to provide a starting point for making work.
2. Multidirection
Centered on the “FTZサポーター,” a student-member group supporting artists, we will work on production toward releasing and publishing songs.
We will use the strength of being from the same generation to create a setting where everyone can easily share opinions.
3. Works Promotion
Once a song is complete, we will support its distribution alongside promotional activities.
Creators and supporters will work together to bring the work to more people through music video production, social media management and other activities.
Across these three steps, we will support new creative work while collaborating with a variety of student organizations and media outlets.
