REPORT | ラナメリサ’s remarkable voice, bluesy down to every breath, at her first self-produced event

Born in 2003 and raised in Yokohama, singer-songwriter ラナメリサ is a new-generation talent with an extraordinary aura: standing quietly, she seems able to change the density of the air with a single glance. Praised by Grammy winners, her emotional voice goes beyond mere technical skill. It has both the sharpness of a knife cutting through the chaos of the times and the bodily warmth of the blues, gently wrapping a wound.

Her first self-produced concert, ‘太陽に妬かれて Vol.1’, took place at TOKIO TOKYO in Shibuya on February 13, 2026. That memorable night vividly marked where she stands today and her vision for the future.

A cinematic prologue by 十明

First onstage was guest artist 十明, who became close to ラナメリサ after meeting at a multi-venue event in Osaka. In a trio with skilled keyboard and drum players, she instantly colored the room in her own tones. On ‘NEW ERA’, produced by RADWIMPS’ Yojiro Noda, bouncing beats intersected with light yet richly dimensional vocals, raising the temperature on the floor.

‘Good evening! Please enjoy yourselves right to the end tonight!’

Her first words embraced the room. She continued to sing as though dancing, inviting the audience into a visual, globally minded world of cinematic pop. The pop tune ‘君のヒーロー’ brought everyone together with its propulsive rock sound, while ‘GRAY’ vividly closed out her world with a stylish, dope sonic palette.

With a palpable sense of success, the story of the night passed the baton to ラナメリサ.

ラナメリサ: an opening declaration of resolve

After the changeover, ラナメリサ strode onto the stage. She opened with her major-label debut song, ‘愛でてよベイベー’. The instant her edgy voice rang out, it seized the audience’s hearts.

That voice never puts on airs. Instead, by exposing the rawness of emotion, it reaches memories and pain deep inside the listener.

Between songs, she declared firmly: ‘Are you all ready to get even more excited? From here, it’s my turn. Let’s do this!’ Every part of those words carried her resolve to stand on the stage of her own event.

On the bluesy, serious love song ‘DATE’, she showed an expressive depth that seemed to sink far beneath the surface. Next came ‘街灯に恋したい’, a midtempo song driven by percussive beats that depicted urban solitude and a faint hope. For a moment, the phrase ‘the return of the blues’ flashed through the mind. Yet her presence is no recreation of a past phenomenon or another person. She is an authentic original, hurt at the same pace as the times and burning at the same temperature.

A milestone: her first self-produced event since her major-label debut

‘Once again, thank you for coming. This really is my first self-produced event. I made my major-label debut last November…’

As she spoke a little shyly, the reality of being 22 came into view. Yet once she began to sing, that youthful side receded.

‘電信柱さん’ revealed a new expression within an unhurried love song, while the acoustically bouncing beat of ‘バンビーナ’ created a rush of excitement. Her songs cannot be contained within genre boundaries. They are pop, yet somehow precarious and deeply urgent.

A special session for one night only

She invited 十明 back for a collaboration. They performed 十明’s song ‘月並’. Their vocal duet created a special chemistry unique to this night.

〈欠けたまま満ちることは無いただ君の生活に置いて欲しかっただけ〉. The moment their harmonies overlapped, the air in the venue trembled. Their voices blended while bringing each singer’s individuality into even sharper focus. It was a truly outstanding moment.

After seeing 十明 off, ラナメリサ flashed a broad grin and said, ‘I’m already satisfied.’ Warm applause filled the room.

Turning pain and distrust alike into song

In ‘夏一辺倒’, piercing high notes cut through the relaxed sound and struck the audience’s hearts. Next, ‘焼ける肌’, the B-side of her debut release, laid bare a young generation’s distrust of and anxiety about the world. Feelings that could be neither anger nor resignation emerged with bluesy breaths. That realism is her greatest weapon.

‘There are two songs left. Right to the end… oh, did you have fun? It was a day when we got to do something fun.’

Behind those somewhat innocent words, her genuine satisfaction in the day’s success showed through. The rock-heavy ‘奪い愛’ drove the floor into a frenzy again, followed by the set-closing killer tune ‘BAD愛’, another unreleased song. Melodic and strongly pop-oriented, it is like a ‘treasure’ she holds dear. In it was a determination to walk into the future, embracing light and shadow alike.

‘太陽に妬かれて’ continues into the future

Responding to an unrelenting call for an encore, ラナメリサ returned to the stage. ‘The event “太陽に妬かれて” is a huge success! We’ll hold the second one in April!’

The packed audience answered her feelings with applause.

After that ringing declaration, she powerfully sang the much-discussed unreleased track ‘エロス’, which has surpassed millions of views on social media. Raw emotion emerged directly as sound.
