Singer Sala, known for her R&B- and hip-hop-based style and clear voice that resonates with people's hearts, and VivaOla, whose outstanding expressiveness has taken them to festivals overseas, including SXSW, as well as in Japan, released their first collaborative single, “If You,” on March 25.
The moment when you realize that time you thought was infinite is finite. An approaching reality, and an impulse that nevertheless refuses to disappear. The words 「どっか遠くに」 express a wish not for a place, but for time in which one can remain a “self that has not yet been decided.” At the crossroads that recur throughout life, the song carries the message of “using the present time to the fullest and moving forward,” whatever the future may hold.
The guitar tones layered over a floating track evoke the feeling of moving between ideals and reality, while Sala and VivaOla's fragile voices convey a quiet heat. Sala's older brother, Ryoma Takamura, also participated in the production. These young talents, who push each other to improve, deliver an emotional anthem for everyone—a must-listen for this spring.
