Nagoya-born singer-songwriter ヒラウチマイ has released 「電線の上のワルツ」, their first single in approximately seven months, on streaming platforms.
The song was born one year after a farewell. At its heart is the feeling of quietly accepting memories of arguments and shared laughter that return when looking up at the night sky, rather than forcing them into order. Built around a steady eighth-note beat, its drums and bass were recorded in a single take. By capturing slight fluctuations and breathing as they are, it creates a groove containing an uneven, human sense of time.
The released music video also depicts, in a single shot, a night sky that evokes those past scenes. Its structure allows only the feelings to change gradually within an unchanging beat, making the passage of time itself tangible. Rather than speaking directly of loss, the song portrays emotions that continue to exist while maintaining a distance.
