Yellow Cattleya released “古代都市,” the seventh installment in a series of releases, on Wednesday, May 21.
The song recounts the loneliness of Yellow Cattleya’s youth through intersecting narrators. Despite the sensitive episodes it describes, its pop-leaning, earnest rap vocals and the rich saxophone tones surrounding them make it a work that confronts his past.
Mizudou_sp79 joins as engineer, while OGI of reggae band BAGDAD CAFE THE trench town contributes saxophone.
A music video is also scheduled for release from May 23.

A rapper born in 2002 who expresses his unvarnished self from Nishinomiya, Hyogo. The lyrics Yellow Cattleya draws from everyday life through his own perspective are strikingly grounded in reality. Within a hip-hop scene that embraces even turbulent lives, his distinctive flow and lyrics convey a sense of refinement and gentle loneliness.
Released in April 2024, his first album, “Blue Gene（ブルージーン）,” demonstrated his stance and clear potential, drawing a response from the scene. He is currently working on a project to release ten consecutive singles. Inspired by Japanese science-fiction comics, the fourth installment, “デブリ,” became a call of love from one wandering soul to all others. His commitment to music videos and artwork, as well as the music itself, reflects an artist with sincerity and care for the creative process.
