Fukui-born singer-songwriter 荒巻 勇仁 has released “未成人,” a song delicately depicting the conflict of wavering between adulthood and childhood, asking how much weight the words of “adults” really carry.
How much weight do we feel in the words of grown-up-seeming people who tell us to live with hope, even when the future lacks brightness? Anxiety and contradictions remain inside us as we grow older, while a heart withers after endlessly holding things in. Portraying that conflict and anguish, the song resists with the words 「諦めてしまおう、良い子でいると損するか ら」 and, despite its self-deprecation, somehow offers comfort.
