isa, an 18-year-old artist of a new generation born in 2007, released the single “can’t sleep without u” on Wednesday, March 18.
isa had been quietly drawing attention even before the release, with videos using the song on TikTok surpassing a combined 500,000 views. This first release portrays the restlessness of sleepless nights and the emotional fluctuations of being unable to stop thinking about another person. A driving beat reminiscent of drum and bass and a minimal arrangement consisting only of a guitar loop and drums bring out the delicate, clear vocals. The song contains a quiet impulse, accompanying a journey home at night or time spent alone with music through headphones.
A music video is also scheduled for release on March 20.
<Artist Comment>
I made this song for my past self. Having experienced depression and being unable to attend school, there was a time when being alone was important to me but also frightening. I wished for someone who would gently stay beside me at just the right distance.
I would be happy if this song could also quietly accompany someone spending time alone, as I did back then.
