Singer-songwriter コニシソウ, who mainly performs in Tokyo, has released his debut album, 『コニシスペシャル』. It is his first release since changing his name from the kanji spelling 「小西創」 to 「コニシソウ」.
On the new opening track, 「鼻をかんだら星が出た」, Konishi, a Gen Z artist born in 2005, expresses the chaos of contemporary social-media society through sound. The lyrics confront the feeling of being pushed around by social-media numbers and ratings, while expressing a wish to take a little distance from them and live with a personally meaningful sense of hope.
The album contains eight tracks spanning rock, pop, alternative, folk, and other genres, interpreting the music Konishi loves in his own way. These include 「イルカの友達」, with its sound recalling 1990s rock, and 「ぷかぷか」, which moves into a shoegaze-like passage at the end.
[コニシソウ Comment]
I made it with friends my own age, so the youthfulness and aggression that come with being 20 have been simmered into this album!
There were moments during production when that very youthfulness made us burn things a little, but we scooped all of it up and put it into this form. I think that made it a real work that only we, as we are now, could have created! Yeah!
