MALIYA released her third album, ‘pluto’, on March 18 and the advance single ‘99%’ on March 4.
The album ‘pluto’ explores the ‘power of transformation’: destroying the old and creating the new. Its title comes from Pluto, a symbol of that power. Arriving ten years after her first EP, ‘ADDICTED’, the release is directed entirely by MALIYA, from its music to its visuals. Drawing on her journey so far, it presents where she stands now and what lies ahead. Producers include Neetz, ESME MORI, Kota Matsukawa and Tomoko Ida, with guest appearances by MUD and other artists connected to her.
‘99%’ depicts an emotional distance that remains just out of reach. Its airy sound and delicate vocals express the reality of a relationship that cannot quite become ‘100%’.

MALIYA
A singer-songwriter based in Tokyo.
She released her first album, ‘ego’, in February 2018, her second, ‘faveur’, in October 2021, and her fifth EP, ‘sugar,spice & all your choices’, in April 2024. While grounded in her roots in 1990s R&B and soul, she continues to pursue her own music by bringing different influences into each release, including jazz and contemporary future soul.
She has also contributed to releases by close collaborators WONK and members of KANDYTOWN. Her own releases have featured SIRUP and Yo-Sea, producers G,RINA and Mori Zentaro, and track arrangements by Grammy nominee TOMOKOIDA. Through collaborations with artists across genres, she continues to expand the possibilities of her music.
