Shonan-born singer Shawn released ‘さよならノスタルジー’, a step beyond nostalgia, on January 28.
Amid life’s recurring good and bad experiences, the song depicts moving forward on one’s own feet without clinging to the past or to emotions. It gently accompanies the doubts, worries and moments of wanting to stop that everyone experiences, offering encouragement to take the next step.
Musically, a melody with a hint of familiarity unfolds over a propulsive sound. Though centered on a nostalgic atmosphere recalling 1980s and 1990s city pop, contemporary, polished arrangements make it resonate naturally with today’s listeners. Pleasant grooves coexist with a sense of uplift, casting everyday scenery in a slightly more positive light.
