Varria, stb and DJ YEN released the single “Never” on January 28. Blending wistful guitar sounds with lo-fi hip-hop, this dreamlike alternative R&B/pop track depicts the loss of heartbreak and feelings that cannot be erased, despite the desire to forget, through delicate melodies and introspective lyrics.
Over DJ YEN’s beat, Varria’s clear vocals meet stb’s rap in down-to-earth language, creating a romantic, chilled song that brings out the strengths of all three artists.
The music video was also released at 7 p.m. on January 28.
Comment from Varri
“Never” puts feelings you want to forget but cannot, and emotions you cannot let go of even knowing they will no longer reach someone, directly into words and melody.
I sang while imagining moments when memories suddenly return as you sit alone in your room.
With DJ YEN’s beat and stb’s rap layered together, I think we were able to express emotional depths I could not have conveyed alone, including the spaces I could not put into words.
I would be happy if people listened within their own nights and memories, connecting the song to feelings that remain over time and emotions that linger unexpectedly.
